I bought a walnut colored one a couple of years ago and have used it for many of our domestic and international travels. It is great for layering and has enough storage that I can generally avoid a backpack. The conversion to a vest is really nice and there is an interior pocket large enough to to store the sleeves when they are removed.I bought this one in the lite khaki because I liked the first one. Since it was sale priced far less than the current $75, it made the decision to have an alternative color very attractive. After getting it I discovered it was a slightly lighter material than the first one I bought which is a plus since it can be worn in warmer weather. This jacket replaces a similar jacket made by Scott E-Vest. This is a lighter jacket which matches the weather conditions when I travel. The fabric is nicer and the styling is much better. This jacket has a total of 8 pocket which is more than enough. The Scott E-Vest has a lot more but some are just there so that it increases the pocket count, a pocket that can only hold a roll of Lifesaver candies isn't useful to me. The Raglan style removable sleeves totally cover the zipper so rain penetration shouldn't be a problem. Neither jackets are classified as rainwear but should be able to handle showers. The shoulder zippers on the Scott E jacket allows water in if you raise your arms while holding an umbrella. This jacket fit a bit looser so I'll be able to wear a light sweater if it gets cool. I haven't used the jacket for travelling but it looks like a well designed travel jacket.ExOfficio FlyQ Covertible Jacket, XX-Large, KhakiThe only reason this is not a five-star review is that the zipper on the outer left-breast pocket tends to snag on the nylon pocket lining. Otherwise, this is a great jacket, especially for the price. The khaki (which appears now not to be available) was only about $30; the other colors sell for more than $100.I do wish that the pockets were a bit larger and that the jacket had a hood, but for the price and quality, I am satisified. This will disappoint those looking for the older FlyQ type jackets. It's a very thin material. This is nice in that it will be good for those needing layering. But it's not as good of quality as the older jackets. I picked it up for under $50.00 so felt it was worth it. I would not pay much more than that price.I bought this for travel to Scandinavia ... going to use laying for warmth ...IMO it could use a few more interior pockets. it has 4 but i found 2 almost useless.i had bought the ExOfficio roundup which looks the same as the Q but i didn't like the shell material = little to stiff/harsh for my taste but it did have a interior 10 pocket system ..i do have a older flyQ lite vest and find the interior 10 pockets too confusing ... spend too much time trying to find things ...so i find 4 not enough and 10 too many ...jacket works very good in rain and wind ... very comfortable , lite weight ..Although it is not a heavy weight jacket I wore it on a 3 week trip through Egypt and Jordan in January and it worked great for me. All I did on the colder days was wear a lightweight fleece or a vest under it and I was warm enough. All the pockets, inside and out are extremely useful for phone, camera, batteries, hat, gloves and everything I needed with me. I did not remove the sleeves, but think that would be useful in hot climate. Kept me dry in rain and protected me in a sand storm. We recently traveled abroad and I ordered this jacket specifically for the trip (and future ones). It couldn't have worked out better for me. Wore it on the flights over and back. Very comfortable. Plenty of pocket space which is useful for maps, wallet (pickpockets), and passport if desired. Wore it long sleeve most of the time but we had two warmer days where I detached the sleeves and wore as a vest - a 30 second procedure. Good product, would order again.A very handsome and practical travel jacket. Many pockets of different sizes and locations to more than accommodate all travel material. Will use jacket on a long flight next week. A very versatile jacket which converts to vest to meet weather or climate demand.
